Back in 2019 I noticed Gary would have to stop occasionally when walking. He always said it was to observe something, but I quickly caught on…he was catching his breath and resting his legs. Often at the beach he would find a place to sit while I continued searching for shells. At stores he would tell me he was going to the front to sit and for me to take my time. I started to think his heart was acting up. Made sense to me….difficulty breathing and unable to walk any distance. We knew from a previous test he has 50% blockage in one of his arteries, so common sense told us the blockage must have increased. Off to the cardiologist we went only to find out his heart was fine. I was sure the cardiologist had to be wrong and set out to get a second opinion. In the meantime Gary began to have difficulty talking and swallowing. He said he sounded like Elmer Fudd. MORE doctors were entered onto our calendar only to be told it HAD to be allergies. Soon his right eye decided to go a different direction while almost closing. The ophthalmologist said it was…. you guessed it….ALLERGIES. We saw every specialist you can imagine and still weren’t getting any answers, yet Gary continued to get worse.
