And time for celebration as Gary has finally tested Covid negative. What a ride this has been!
November 13 Gary felt he was getting a cold and at times thought possibly the flu. We kept his regular medications going and added Sambucol Cold and Flu and lots of bone broth. By Thursday he said he felt better. However, Saturday, November 19, the tables turned and he went downhill very fast. Fever at 103. horrible body aches. A Covid test showed positive; his body was fighting another battle. To say I was scared is putting it mildly. I’ve seen/read what is said about Covid and people with pre-existing conditions, yet I also knew who is in control…God.
I immediately sent word to one of our earthly angels who joined us via text throughout this journey. We immediately increased the supplements he was already on, and added ivermectin. A phone call to Dr. Bowden at Breathmd.org, and we had increased prednisone, antibiotic, breathing treatments, and oxygen.
Gary slept most of the time. I would wake him to do breathing exercises, take meds, eat, and do his breathing treatments. I was determined to keep him out of the hospital. By November 23 it looked like we might be out of the woods. He was beginning to feel better. As each day passed he grew stronger and stronger. Yesterday he was able to walk outside several times, and today he is sitting at his computer back at work.
His MG took a hit… difficulty moving his legs and supporting himself, breathing was more labored, standing was near impossible and vision was blurred. However, as of today those have improved. He does feel a huge part of that is the new medication he is on…Vyvgart. While we would like to see him without his cane/walker and breathing less labored, there is no doubt in our minds Vyvgart is doing something. He will receive his next round of treatments for that Wednesday, December 7.
We believe the daily supplements he takes in combination with the Vyvgart helped his body be better prepared for this most recent battle. He still has nasal drainage/cough and tiredness remains, but we have faith those will improve in time. He is excited as he has lost 18 pounds, his hips and back don’t hurt, and he can walk straighter. Always looking at the positive! 🙂
The scary nights of him to trying to breath while attempting to spit mucus out, watching him fail at holding the tubing up to his mouth for his treatments and having to hold it for him, of holding our breath when the oxygen dipped to the upper 80s, and other scary memories I know in time will fade. Right now we are celebrating all our friends and loved ones who prayed for him, who texted/called checking on us, who sent food and ran errands for us…we are celebrating life knowing without a doubt….
WE ARE BLESSED
