Excitement in Simple Things…

What a beautiful Monday morning! We had a great weekend and now look forward to the week ahead. Gary sat at his tool box in the garage and helped organize the mess we emptied from storage. Good heavens…one certainly collects a lot in their lifetime! The conversation many times was discussing why we needed to keep such things as a bent wrench, another tool which was missing parts, or even homemade toys! In the end all these sentimental pieces found their home…in our garage.

It has been a year since Gary began his journey on Vyvgart. As I discussed last time, the doctor feels there is more that can be done. Blood work was ordered, and we waited to find out our next steps. The call came this morning while we were drinking our morning coffee and discussing how to solve all the worlds problems. HA! Gary is good to go with another medication. She is going to try him on Azathioprine (Imuran). There could be side effects such as fever, flu like symptoms, increased infections, and small risk of skin cancer. We discussed it and felt our team, with God as our leader, could handle anything thrown our way, so we are picking it up today. The hope is that this medication will allow him to get off prednisone and maybe even Vyvgart. It will be a long process…6 months to a year, but one we are excited to try.

Symptoms remain the same: shortness of breath, muscle weakness, and of course those pesky eyes. We have noticed these things get worse while on the 4 week vyvgart treatment but do improve within one to two weeks after. Consequently we don’t worry too much about them.

Attitude continues to be out of this world wonderful. ❤ He is working full time and more with his consulting business and loving it. I’m not sure he will ever truly retire! When you ask him how he is doing, his reponse is always the same…

I AM BLESSED!!
