I Will Trust In You…

I looked back too see when our last post was…WHERE DOES THE TIME GO? Here it is mid April already! I kept saying I would post when we saw the next doctor, so I could give an update. However, there was the next doctor, then the next doctor, then…. here it is almost May! That saying ‘don’t blink’ is so true in so many ways. My summer resolution is to be better about posting. 😉

Gary has pretty much healed up from his fall in February. His right arm is still quite swollen, but the liquid oozing from simple scrapes/cuts has stopped. That arm from the elbow to the wrist is still very tender to the touch. He is the toughest man I have ever met. I’m not sure I would have been as good with a fall like that…actually I KNOW I wouldn’t have! He has a small scab remaining on his left arm and some swelling at the area around his knuckles on both hands. It appears there is some damage to a tendon on the left hand; however, the physical therapist has him doing stretches for it.

He is still on Vyvgart and Imuran. Since beginning the Imuran his blood sugar has continued to rise. The endocrinologist has him now taking a long lasting insulin, a shot 15 min before each meal, and then his nightly pill trying to get these numbers down. Interesting how one medication helps, yet it has several side effects! His neuromuscular doctor is trying to lower his prednisone; however, he is beginning to have some symptoms worsening from that. (muscle weakness, fatigue, and difficulty breathing) We have faith we will be able to get his A1C (sugar number) down in time. We have been working on eating Mediterranean meals. It is said to help with inflammation and many other things. It has been an adjustment for us, but one we are enjoying.

Gary has been 4 weeks on/4 weeks off Vyvgart. Since diagnosis he has had to go downtown to the med center for infusions; however, they recently opened up a Paragon Infusion Center here in Katy just down the road from us. It has been wonderful! He had his last of 4 on April 5. This time we will wait and see how his symptoms do before going in for another round. Fingers crossed he can go longer than 4 weeks. However, it will be just fine if he can’t make it that long as he enjoys visiting and telling stories to all who will listen there! I wouldn’t be surprised if he shows up simply for coffee just to visit! 😉

Although he is currently having issues since lowering the prednisone (I have a call to the doctor about that), overall Gary is seeing improvement. Even his physical therapist has noticed. He has greater balance control which is huge! (I’d insert a celebration emoji here if I knew how! 🙂 ) His skin looks better, and that pesky right eye has even cooperated!

Gary continues to work at his consulting business. He is constantly telling me is is going to cut back on hours. It appears his definition and mine don’t match as I see cutting back as less and he continues to add more! HA! Work makes him happy, and he without a doubt LOVES what he is doing, so in reality it really isn’t working! 🙂

Life continues to be good. Although things don’t always go the way WE think they should, as the song by Lauren Daigle says, “I will trust in you”. Not a day goes by that Gary and I don’t admit that

We are blessed
