Week Two Down

Gary finished another week giving himself daily shots of Zilbrysq. I’ve always said he is the smartest man I’ve ever known; I will add to that the bravest. Everything he endures from the many daily shots, doctor appointments, tests, and more is something I’m not sure I could do. No doubt his strength comes from his strong faith. ❀

The needle of the Zilbrysq shot while large isn’t as painful as you would expect. However, injecting the medication is. The medication creates a strong burning sensation which lasts about 30 minutes. It is painful enough that he hesitates each time. He isn’t seeing any improvements of his MG symptoms – yet. πŸ˜‰ The headache side effect has subsided; however, we are noticing an increase in heartburn – severe enough to wake him from sleeping. We will touch base with his neuromuscular doctor today about that.

Gary just completed week 4 of his Vyvgart treatments. Now we wait I believe 3 weeks before they start back up again. In the meantime he is still on Pyridostigmine 3 times daily and 40MG of Prednisone.

MG symptoms remain the same: double vision, muscle weakness (walking, lifting arms), needing breaks when getting dressed in the morning and ready for bed in the evening. Not bad considering how much worse it could be! πŸ™‚

We saw a new cardiologist Monday and are thrilled! He read the reports from the cath procedure which was done in March and went over them with us. While Gary does have heart failure, it is treatable with medication and some lifestyle changes. He does have 70 blockage; however, he is not having any chest pains which is positive. He will get some more testing done in May for his wonderful heart.

In the meantime he continues to enjoy life. He took a few of his grandchildren to see Godzilla while I was at work. Amirah, the 19 year old, took very good care of him while there. ❀ Of course a beach trip will hopefully happen in May. We are looking into different types of ramps to put in place of the stairs to get into the rv. So many different options…so many different prices! Egads! However, I do believe that will give Gary more freedom as it will make it easier and safer for him to go in and out of the rv.

Life continues to be a roller coaster ride with its ups and downs. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank God for choosing us to be partners on this ride together. As Gary always reminds us…

I AM BLESSED
