Another medication, Zilbrysq, has been marked off the list. Gary developed headaches in the front of his head, extreme fatigue and dizziness, and stomach issues after three weeks. After discussing the side effects with his doctor, it was decided to stop the medication. Within days the side effects began to ease up. A double edged sword. While we are so thankful the side effects are gone, it also means another medication did not work to help ease his MG. We met with his neuromuscular doctor who told us we are just about out of options. That’s pretty tough to hear…unless…you know our God like we do! We have no doubt God has great plans in the works for Gary; we simply have to be patient and hold strong to our faith. 🙂
MG symptoms are really showing off lately. Gary begins his day feeling pretty good. By 2:00 his eyes begin to weaken and by 5:00 the extreme fatigue along with difficulty holding his head up enters the picture; by dinnertime difficulty chewing makes an appearance along with his legs becoming molasses. He doesn’t get to take a nap every day; however, it definitely helps slow down the symptoms when he is able to. He is still on
Vyvgart, Mestinon, and Prednisone. We are trying to lower the prednisone dose but not sure who will win that tug of war just yet.
After two days of doctors and tests, we came home and decided it was time Gary got a new toy. We ordered a motorized chair! Woo Hoo! Those who know Gary know without a doubt it will have all sorts of racing “upgrades”! 😉 It is all terrain. That means he will without a doubt be racing in the streets, sidewalks, beach, and more! I’m thinking I might need to invest in a harness and helmet for him!! (Maybe even a parachute?) HA!
Of course Gary continues to live life to the fullest. He has been to see his great-granddaughter, celebrated his son, John-Michael, and youngest granddaughter, Emma, birthdays, and of course thrown in work with business meetings in there. Nothing slows my sweetie down! ❤ As he always says with a smile on his face, “comparatively speaking….
I am blessed”
